Nevada students meet with peers, legislators in D.C.
Eight JAG Nevada student leaders attended the Jobs for America’s Graduates National Student Leadership Academy in Washington, D.C., December 5 – 7, 2024. The young student leaders were able to network with peers, attend training and workshops with JAG National Leaders, meet with legislators and tour the nation’s capital.
Students who attended were Jayden and Samantha, from Rancho High School, Las Vegas; Rapheal and Juri from Legacy High School, Las Vegas; Katya and Wesley, from Galena High School in Reno; Mia from Centennial High School, Las Vegas; and Stella Rae from Douglas County High School in Minden.
Legislators and staff were eager to greet the young leaders, who used the meetings to advocate for educational and workforce development opportunities for Nevada youth. Among the legislators who greeted our students were Nevada’s Congressional Representatives Dina Titus and Rep. Steven Horsford, and Rep. Ro Khanna, California.
The National Student Leadership Academy (NSLA) is a capstone leadership experience for JAG Career Association state officers and local chapter leaders, providing unique experiences through experiential learning, real-world applicability, and networking.
