JAG Nevada Welcomes Kinross Leader to Board

Please welcome Rachel Ray, Kinross Gold Corporation, External Affairs, to the JAG Nevada Board of Directors. 

Rachel is a Nevada native, born and raised in Round Mountain, with deep roots in the community she now serves professionally. A third-generation miner, she comes from a family deeply involved in Nevada’s mining industry, shaping her strong connection to the field from an early age.

She began her career in mining in 2012 and has built a well-rounded foundation through a range of roles including equipment operator, dispatcher, assay lab technician, and administrative assistant.

In August 2023, Rachel transitioned to External Affairs with Round Mountain Gold Corporation, where she leads community engagement and strategic communication efforts. It was then she began her involvement with JAG Nevada, and we are proud to celebrate a 10-year partnership with Kinross Gold Corporation and honor their support of the Round Mountain JAG program and the organization statewide.

Rachel's diverse operational background gives her a unique ability to bridge the gap between mining operations and community stakeholders, translating complex processes into meaningful, accessible initiatives. She has played a key role in developing community advisory committees, coordinating educational outreach, and supporting large-scale events and corporate campaigns. She is known for her practical, solution-driven approach and her commitment to strengthening relationships between industry and the communities it impacts. Advocating for and educating others about mining is a core passion that drives her work.

Rachel is married and a mother of two, and she values building a strong, balanced life centered on family, professional growth, and community connection. Welcome, Rachel! 

JAG Nevada Students Awarded Scholarships!

JAG Nevada students are receiving a head start on funding their education goals thanks to scholarships provided by our generous partners. 

Assisting Lives in Las Vegas:

Thanks to Assisting Lives in Las Vegas, 16 JAG Nevada students received scholarships totaling $75,000 to pay for their trade school educations, leading to careers in construction, hospitality, community safety, health and the beauty industry!

Gratitude to Aarón Ibarra of the Southern Nevada Building Trades Unions and JAG Nevada Board of Directors member who led the selection committee with JAG Board members Alicia Briançon-Coker, Ed.D., from Nevada Department of Education, and Reuben D'silva, Nevada State Assemblymember and Clark County School District Educator.

Thanks to Local Union 525 Las Vegas for hosting the celebration and to Southern Nevada Building Trades Union for providing refreshments.

Youth Law Day:

JAG Nevada proudly celebrated 7 outstanding students who were awarded the Youth Law Day Scholarship! 

In Washoe County: From Galena High School, congratulations Morgan, Molly and Rose, who will pursue careers in law; and Richel, from Wooster High School, who is working with Sparks PD to begin her career in law enforcement. 

In Clark County: Congratulations to Divine, from Cheyenne High School, and Evelyn and Miranda from Delta Academy. 

These students represent the future of justice, leadership, and public service. Through their hard work and commitment, they’ve shown what it means to make a difference in their communities. We are proud of each of you and excited to see the impact you will continue to make.
