Students Convene, Compete and Collaborate at 9th Annual Career Development Conference |
Last month, J4NG held the 9th Annual Career Development Conference at the Aliante Resort in Las Vegas, which brought together hundreds of students from all across the state to compete, network, and learn. Students had a great time participating in workshops, enhancing employability skills, receiving complimentary headshots and exploring the college and career fair. They heard from amazing speakers including Chris Reilly from Tesla and Maria Jose Gatti from the MGM Resorts Foundation.
Thank you to our wonderful program sponsors: Kinross Round Mountain Gold, NV Energy, Tesla, McDonald's, Southwest Gas, Sylvan Learning, Six Co., Laborer's Union Local 169 and Silver Summit Healthplan, for making this possible. Working together, we are impacting the future of our state! |
J4NG Sends Youth to Legislative Day at the State Capitol |
On Tuesday, March 7th, dozens of J4NG students attended J4NG Legislative Day, where they had an introduction to state government, learned about civic engagement, and developed leadership skills. Students met with elected officials to talk about the impact of the J4NG program, sit on the assembly floor during session, witness a presentation at the Nevada Supreme Court, and end the day with a meet and greet with Governor Joe Lombardo.
Guest speakers Assemblywoman Erica Mosca and State Treasurer Zach Conine spoke about their roles and took questions from curious students. We haven’t been able to do this event in person since 2019, and it was incredible to see J4NG students so engaged in the political process! Governor Lombardo says: “Jobs for Nevada’s Graduates opens those eyes and gives [youth] an understanding of what their options are, what their abilities are, and have people there to help facilitate them through that process.” |
