Ceremonies Set the Tone for Student Leadership
Jobs For Nevada’s Graduates is in the business of preparing youth for future success. One of the ways we do this is by setting the professional tone for the Chapters through student-organized Initiation and Installation Ceremonies. These events provide exposure to event planning, public speaking, and formal attire. The students create the event, invite guests and install their leadership. At least three of the events received coverage in the local media.
Jobs for America’s Graduates National describes the event as, “A heartfelt ceremony where our students are officially welcomed into their JAG program. In front of their classmates, family, friends, and the wider community, they recite a meaningful oath, committing to the incredible growth and transformation they’ll experience through JAG.”
We want to thank all the students, specialists, guest speakers, friends, family and faculty who organized, attended and supported these events throughout the state. We cannot do what we do and provide opportunities for our future leaders without the support of our partners, stakeholders and communities. Thank you for your partnership in building 10 years of 20,000 career-ready youth! Congratulations to all the J4NG students and leadership officers who were initiated this year!

Student Spotlight: Unique from Wooster High School
Unique is a senior this year but is new to Reno and Wooster High. She needed a job and had some experience but also a few barriers: no transportation, little support and was unfamiliar with her area.
Her Specialist, Coach T – Chris Tabarez, met with Unique over lunch and helped her find a job opening at Chuck E. Cheese. Unique took the initiative to meet with the employer that afternoon, had an interview the next day, and started training later that week.
With the help of Coach T, Unique connected with the right opportunity: A job within walking distance to her home, flexible hours and in line with her prior experience. She also added to her skill set, learning to use Indeed.com and other employment resources as she moves forward. Although this isn’t her long-term plan, this income is a huge help and addresses her immediate needs while adding experience to her resume. Great teamwork! Way to go, Unique!
This is what J4NG does to help youth find the opportunities that will lead them to a successful future.
